Help with School
Our Family Support Specialists know that parents and caregivers understand their children's strengths and challenges best.
How We Help
We are here to support, listen to, and help you build positive working relationships between home and school. We are happy to attend IEP and 504 meetings as well as parent/teacher conferences with you, as another pair of ears to listen and advocate for your child's specific needs. Following your lead, together we can come up with solutions that work for your family.
2023 Back to School Program

School Supplies
Getting your student outfitted for school can be expensive. If your budget is too tight to provide everything needed, you’re not alone! At the Family Resource Center, we have a wide variety of school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and more for income-eligible families to choose from. Drop in or make an appointment to see what’s available.
Families in Transition
Are you struggling to find permanent housing due to financial difficulties? The Families in Transition program can help your child maintain school stability and connect your family to resources. If you are a family with children in school and you don’t have permanent housing, we can help. If you’re dealing with any of the following situations, your family is eligible for emergency assistance:
Staying with friends or family due to financial hardship
A teen living on your own
At risk of losing your home
Living without plumbing or electricity
Living in a hotel, motel, vehicle or campground
Moving from one place to another to have somewhere to sleep at night
Living in a shelter
Living on the street
If any of these living situations apply to you, please contact Family Support Specialist Mary Michell by visiting the Family Resource Center, calling 360-221-6808 ext. 4320, or by email at mmichell@readinesstolearn.org.
